The text used throughout for the credits changes from the initial red blood stained text that is used in the first 10 seconds which also uses a bold font to make it clear. The colour red is obviously used to connote danger and blood. These are associations that are the audience will have already learned so it wont be anything new to them. The pairing of red and danger is universal and is apparent throughout the opening scene and sets the tone for the rest of the film.
However after these first few credits the colour changes with the setting. The setting is no longer in gloomy cells but set somewhere else most likely still parts of the prison but much more brighter colours and well lit scenes are used. The use of a new colour which is a more plain white illustrates the contrast between the two settings. Another difference between these two titles is that their is an effect on the white text that you cannot see via the screenshot but it is that the title flickers very slightly almost like a light. This flickering of light is something that is often used in horror and thriller films and is usually used to create periods of darkness.
The red text isn't used again until the title of the film is shown in the very last shot which shows that shutter island is a dangerous place overall.
